THE PROBLEM
When you decided that you wanted to be a writer, I don’t believe that you decided that with your mind. Your hands— they needed to write. Your belly burned when you didn’t put pen to paper. Your tolerance for other people dropped to 4% and the gremlins in your mind came out to play saying things like you aren’t good enough and who would want to read this and why would you waste your time with such nonsense?
So, your muse left you stranded and your mythopoetic identity hid somewhere in the seaweed garden of other things you’ve loved but given up for one reason or another.

Perhaps you have no interest at all in being a published writer, but you remember the young you who just loved this stuff. Just got all giddy about using your imagination to build a new world, to write an evocative metaphor, to let your subconscious mind dive into something else for a while.

THE WHAT
Submergence: A Creative Writer’s Chamber is like the common area, lunchroom, school yard, and clubhouse of The Storybreath School. You have to walk through it in order to access any of the courses inside of the building. Most students will hang out here during random moments before and after their class starts, but they only have access to the course they registered for.
Residents of the Submergence Yearlong Immersion, however, get to participate in any class, workshop, or event that happens anywhere on The Storybreath School grounds, and has special one-on-one time each term with the school’s founder, Ash Wylder.
HOW IT WORKS
When you enroll as a resident in the Submergence Yearlong Immersion, you gain access to everything. All of the coursework, live classes, curriculum, and replays and recordings of anything that you couldn’t attend live.
You receive special resident access to Ash Wylder to help you achieve your goals in your writing career. Perhaps it’s to become published, or maybe it’s to write with more ease and nourishment. Whatever it is, Ash uses her expertise in both the written word and habit development to tailor a map through The Storybreath School that helps you meet your goals.

The Submergence Yearlong Immersion is a start at any time residency. So that means that whenever you enroll, you’ll automatically gain access to the full library of materials (recordings, coursework, workshops, etc.) and live access to whatever course is happening at that time.
You can start as soon as 24 hours after registration is complete!

The goal of this program is to help you establish a sustainable, nourishing, and dangerous writing practice. (Don’t worry, you’re safe the entire time. Our resources are trauma-informed and gentle.) In that way, if you need to establish a body-of-work that you would like to start sending out to publishers, or want to work on drafting different writing projects, this is a great place for you.
On the other hand, if you are looking for a copyeditor, literary agent, or general publishing information, this isn’t your place. We are a school that helps people write what’s real even if it’s fiction and deeply integrate their mythopoetic identity and muse. We write for writing’s sake. We find our voices. We unleash our chaotic and poetic geniuses.
